Consilium Recruit are proudly partnering the retail division of a global automotive vehicle manufacturer. They are seeking a Breakdown Technician to support vehicles in the field that need fault diagnosis, potential repairs or return to base assistance. This is a rotating shift-based role providing 24/7 coverage to customers.


Commutable from:  Farnborough, Aldershot, Farnham, Fleet, Camberley, Frimley

The Role

As an Assistance/Breakdown Technician, you will be responsible for attending vehicles and returning them to their operation.  Key functions of the role include:

  • Carrying out routine maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles & trailers
  • Carrying out routine maintenance and repairs on other equipment as and when required and fully trained
  • Diagnosing and rectifying all types of faults
  • Arranging 3rd party repairs/recoveries
  • Attending vehicles at the roadside or at customer’s premises
  • Ensuring all vehicles worked upon are handled carefully and that all precautions are taken whilst on the premises
  • Liaising with parts department to attain parts
  • Ensuring Health & Safety regulations and safe working practices are adhered to
  • Ensuring all job cards and service sheets are completed in a timely manner


The Person

The ideal candidate will be able to work rotating shift patterns including day and night rotations and possess a current driving licence. You will ideally have experience in roadside or main dealer vehicle maintenance and repair and posses an excellent customer manner.

The Breakdown Technician will be required to respond to customer callouts within a set geographical region and will provide the initial diagnosis and recommendation at the site of the breakdown.

You will be able to work under pressure, at times in confined spaces and outdoors and be able to support the lifting requirements for the role.

The Breakdown Technician will receive excellent training and progression plan including funding for the relevant qualifications and certifications.
