Consilium Recruit is exclusively partnering a leading engineering & manufacturing group who specialise in innovative solutions & products to the EV and clean energy sectors. Due to the award of new programs, they have a number of new vacancies to join their expanding team and are currently recruiting for an experienced Systems Requirements Engineer


Location: Coventry, Birmingham, Leamington Spa, Warwick (hybrid working) 

Salary: Dependant on Experience 

Suitable For: Systems Requirement Engineer, Senior Systems Engineer.


The Role

  • Engage with stakeholders, including customers, project managers, and engineering teams, to gather and define system requirements. Conduct interviews, workshops, and analysis to understand the needs and constraints of the project.
  • Develop clear, concise, and comprehensive requirements documentation, including use cases, functional and non-functional requirements, system specifications, and interface descriptions.
  • Utilise requirements management tools to track, manage, and trace requirements throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure that all changes to requirements are documented and communicated effectively.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between stakeholders and the engineering team, ensuring that all parties have a clear understanding of the requirements and their implications on design and implementation.
  • Collaborate with the testing and quality assurance teams to ensure verification and validation coverage of requirements. Ensure requirement status is accurately captured and manage V&V failures.
  • Identify and assess risks related to system requirements. Work with project teams to develop mitigation strategies and ensure that risks are effectively managed.
  • Manage and document any changes to requirements during the development process. Ensure that all changes are evaluated for impact and are approved through the proper channels.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of requirements engineering processes and best practices. Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and techniques related to systems engineering and requirements management.


The Candidate  

  • A degree or similar qualification in an engineering discipline
  • At least 3 years relevant experience of requirements engineering applied to high integrity software intensive systems OR formal qualifications in Systems Engineering.
  • A sound understanding of engineering, physics and applied mathematics and their application to solving real world problems.
  • Proven experience in gathering, documenting, and managing complex system requirements.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and practices, including requirements analysis, traceability, and verification/validation.
  • Proficiency in requirements management tools (e.g., IBM Rational DOORS, Jama, ReqIF).
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to the domain (e.g., ISO/IEC 15288, ISO 26262, DO-178C).
  • Advanced capabilities in Microsoft Office & applications.
  • Experience in participating in and chairing change management forums.
